Mutual Exchanges
If you want to exchange (swap) houses with another tenant this is known as a mutual exchange. You may do this if you meet certain conditions. You may exchange with a local-authority tenant, RSL tenant or tenant of a qualifying landlord.
If you want to exchange homes, all tenants involved in the exchange must make sure that:
- Rent accounts are clear and up to date
- The properties involved are the right size for both you and the other person
- They have looked after the properties and the properties are in a satisfactory condition
- Both parties have not broken any conditions of their tenancy
Mutual exchanges must not take place before you have written permission from your landlord and have signed a new tenancy agreement.
If you want to apply for an exchange, you can download the Mutual Exchange Form or collect one directly from the Association's office.
